West Ham keeping tabs on Giovanni Simeone

West Ham United are keen on signing the Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone.

The 26-year-old had a reasonably good season in the Italian league last year and the Hammers are looking to bring the Argentine to the Premier League as per TMW.

The player is a target for French outfit Marseille and the likes of Celta Vigo are keeping tabs on him as well.

It is no secret that the Hammers will need to improve their attacking options this summer and Simeone could prove to be a quality addition for them.

David Moyes has been overly reliant on Michail Antonio for goals this past year and he will have to bring in more depth and quality.

The Hammers will be playing in the Europa League next season and they cannot afford to have Antonio as their only striking option.

The 26 year old Argentine forward scored six goals and picked up two assists across all competitions for Cagliari last season.

Simeone has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2024 and it will be interesting to see what is asking price is.

SL View: Simeone could form a quality partnership with Antonio

The 26-year-old is not a prolific goalscorer but he could partner Antonio in the attack next season. Simeone will add some creativity in the final third as well and the two players could complement each other well.

Antonio could benefit from having a creative centre forward playing next to him. Also, Simeone might be able to put up better numbers playing alongside better players in the Premier League.

It would certainly be an interesting signing for the Hammers for the right price.

West Ham United in talks over Clement Lenglet move?

West Ham United are reportedly in talks with Barcelona over a loan move for Clement Lenglet.

The 26-year-old established himself as a key member of Ronald Koeman's backline last term, starting 29 La Liga games and featuring 48 times in total across all competitions.

However, with the Blaugrana desperately trying to offload some of their big earners this summer, Lenglet is one of many players in Catalonia who could face the axe.

Everton are believed to be considering a swoop for the centre-back, but according to journalist Ekrem Konur, West Ham have now opened talks over a loan deal.

Konur adds that the deal does not include an option or obligation to buy, and Everton have also followed up their interest to enter negotiations with the Blaugrana.

Lenglet still has another five years left to run on his Barcelona contract, and he started just one game for France at Euro 2020 - their last-16 defeat to Switzerland - but was hauled off at half time.

Chelsea prospect Lewis Bate is subject of interest from four of the their Premier League rivals

Chelsea prospect Lewis Bate is subject of interest from four of their Premier League rivals.

The Chelsea future of England under-19 midfielder Bate is uncertain.

He has one year left on his current contract and is one of a number of Blues youngsters to have delayed signing a new deal to remain at Stamford Bridge.

That has alerted Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds and Southampton who have all expressed an interest in left footer Bate, 18.

Leeds have proved to summer youth signings Wigan's Sean McGurk and Birmingham's Amari Miller that they can offer a route to first-team football and will hope that may work in their favour as they target Bate.

West Ham and Southampton are also keen to tempt Bate away from Chelsea while Liverpool have previous having signed Dominic Solanke as a youngster from the Londoners.

Bate has been at Chelsea since the age of eight and progressed through the ranks, emerging as one of their standout performers at youth level, to the fringes of the first team.

Bate has made the bench three times, against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and last season against Sheffield United in the Premier League and Barnsley in the FA Cup.

Exclusive: Rangers star Kennedy 'flattered' after West Ham submit formal bid

Rangers have rejected a bid from West Ham for Kai Kennedy, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The attacker, 19, is being pursued by the Premier League big guns after impressive Scottish Championship loan spells last season.

An industry source has told Football Insider that the club have tabled an offer in the region of £600,000 for Kennedy.

Rangers responded to the bid by knocking it back as they hope to keep the highly-rated winger at Ibrox.

Kennedy signed a new contract with the Gers in January that runs until the summer of 2023.

He spent last season on loan at Inverness Caley Thistle and Raith Rovers in what was his first extended taste of senior football.

The Scotland youth international admits he is flattered by the interest of West Ham and the potential opportunity to work under David Moyes.

“It is extremely flattering that West Ham have made an offer for me and it would be a great opportunity to be able to work with a top manager such as David Moyes, but I am a Rangers player until I am told otherwise,” Kennedy told Football Insider.

Kennedy’s agent, Paul Tait, confirmed West Ham’s interest in the attacker along with a number of other clubs.

“West Ham are very keen on Kai and they have shown that in their offers to Rangers,” Tait told Football Insider.

“There are a lot of clubs interested in Kai and we will have to wait and see what Rangers decide to do with him.”
